Academic Senate: MINUTES 04/20/2004

Absent: Sr. Angela Hoffman, Dr. Larry Lewis, Dr. Bart Rylander

Invocation: The invocation was given by Dr. Wynne.

Minutes of the March senate meeting were accepted.

Standing Committee Reports

Executive Committee: Dr. Anita Wynne gave the report. The Executive committee reviewed process for the election of senators and established the agenda.

Committee on Committee: No report was given, as there was no action taken since the last Senate meeting.

Committee on Rank & Tenure: Dr. Dakshina Murty gave the report. Letters to faculty who are coming up for tenure review were sent out. A workshop will be held on Faculty Development Day- May 4^th.

Committee on Teaching & Scholarship: Mr. Larry Larsen gave the report. There has been no meeting since the last Senate meeting, but the committee will meet Wednesday, April 21^st .

Committee on Faculty and Welfare: Dr. Jack Kondrasuk gave the report. A powerpoint presentation was given regarding the Faculty Welfare Committee Survey. The survey has now been forwarded on to the University Officers. Brother Donald reminded us that the National Faculty Survey will be distributed in the Fall.

Committee on Curriculum & Academic Regulations: No report was given, as there was no action taken since the last Senate meeting.

Presidential Advisory Committee Reports

Committee on Student Media: Dr. Jeff Gauthier gave the report. No meeting since the last Senate meeting. The final meeting will be Friday, April 23^rd.

Committee on Athletics: Dr. Jack Kondrasuk gave the report. The new athletic director will be Larry Williams. Imani Dorsey received the NCAA post-graduate award. Lighting for evening games will be installed to the Clive Charles Soccer Stadium.

Committee on Health & Safety: No report was given, as there was no action taken since the last Senate meeting

Committee on Computers & Telecommunications: No report was given, as there was no action taken since the last Senate meeting

Student & Faculty Court: No report was given, as there was no action taken since the last Senate meeting

Other Reports

Deans Report: The report was given by Bro. Donald Stabrowski: Founders Day was reviewed, approx. 250 students presented. Overall comments were very positive. The tactical part of the Universities Strategic Plan is being implemented. An online template is being developed. Faculty Development Day is May 4^th All departments are asked to do a poster session on their programs. An online Evaluation of Administrators has been sent out.

ASUP: New senators reps were introduced. Ms. Julie Stillwell is the ASUP Vice President and Ms. Jennifer Reinhard is the ASUP Secretary

New Business

The Senate again reviewed and made changes to the senate bylaws and constitution. These documents will now be forwarded to the Board of Regents for review.
