Save the date for Fall Orientation 2013:
August 22-25, 2013
Please find the tentative schedule here.
Orientation at the University of Portland
Orientation is a very special time on campus because it is an opportunity for us to welcome you into our community and assist you in making the smoothest transition possible. Through an exciting and informative program of activities and events, Orientation will help you build relationships with fellow new students, returning students, faculty, and staff.
As you acclimate to the campus and the location where you will live, study, relax, and play, you will also learn many important aspects of University life, including:
- the mission of the University;
- what faculty expect and how to become a successful student;
- the student services and academic advising the University provides;
- your rights and responsibilities as a student at the University;
- how to get involved in campus life outside the classroom;
- the lay-out of the University campus (view a campus map);
- how to access important information, particularly through our website and the campus web portal, PilotsUP;
- common terminology used by UP students, faculty, staff, and alumni (a.k.a. "Pilot-speak")
Orientation is scheduled in August for new students beginning in the Fall semester and in January for new students beginning in the Spring semester. We look forward to seeing you! If you have any questions about the Orientation program, please feel free to contact us by phone at (503) 943-7470 on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or by e-mail: Office of Student Activities.
A shortened, similar version is offered for new students beginning classes in the Spring Semester. The schedule for Spring Orientation is posted at the end of the Fall Semester.

Pre-Orientation Programs

OHANA is offered through Student Activities and is available to incoming multicultural freshmen. The Service Plunge is offered through the Moreau Center for Service and Leadership and is open to all new students. The Honors Retreat is open only to new students who have been accepted into the Honors Program. All three programs are held concurrently during the week before New Student Orientation.
