Admissions: Welcome to UP
From the PresidentI am delighted that you are interested in the University of Portland, and I certainly hope you will be intrigued enough with Oregon's Catholic university to apply for admission. A University of Portland education is a uniquely personal experience. On The Bluff we are devoted to educating both the minds and hearts of our students, and we do so in a collegiate setting that often seems more like a friendly village of students and teachers than anything else.
The virtues of the University are many, as you will see: small classes, wide choices of courses and majors, a lovely campus, easy access to both downtown Portland and the lush natural beauties of Oregon's mountains, forests, and coast. I suppose what I would emphasize most of all about the University, though, is its attention to the student as a person -- here you will know your professors and classmates. In addition, we are recognized as one of the finest institutions in the American west—the University of Portland is ranked among the top 5 universities in the west region by U.S. News and World Report.
I hope you will be able to join us.
Rev. E. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., President
From the Dean of Admissions

The University of Portland offers an intimate, caring Catholic community in an atmosphere ideally suited for study, work, and play—an atmosphere that will prepare you not just for life—but for living. I hope that you’ll be able to join us here for your undergraduate studies.
