Academic Advising: Referrals
The University environment offers many opportunities to experience academic, emotional, and spiritual growth but it is also a time in which students may be forced to deal with challenges inside and outside the classroom. Advisors and classroom teachers can be resources to students dealing with these difficulties by helping them to take full advantage of the many services available to students at the University.
The University offers resources to help students deal with challenges associated with academics, finances, career uncertainty, and medical/mental health issues.
Students can benefit from referrals when struggling with test taking, paper writing, prioritizing, and accessibility issues related to learning styles or disabilities. Additionally, the University can assist students experiencing difficulty due to chronic medical conditions, accidents or injuries, sleeping difficulties, stress and anxiety, depression or the death of a friend or family member.
Family financial issues or changes in finances can have significant consequences for students that a referral can sometimes help to address. Finally, uncertainty about goals, career options, and future prospects can often be addressed by appropriate referrals.
