March 8, 2014 - Intramural Game Day & Reception for Young Alumni '98-'13
Don’t miss out on this chance to reconnect and relive intramural team fun. Get your old team together or join one when you get here. We’ll have 3-on-3 basketball, kickball, flag football, and ultimate Frisbee games. Prizes will be awarded to winning teams. Or you can watch WCC basketball on our TV monitors. March 27, 2014 - Bauccio Lecture: Whole Foods Market Co-CEO Walter Robb
With a long and varied entrepreneurial history in natural foods ranging from retailer to farmer to consultant, Whole Foods Market Co-CEO Walter Robb joined Whole Foods Market in 1991, and in 2010 was named Co-CEO along with John Mackey at which time he joined the Whole Foods Market Board of Directors. He is on the Board of Regents for the University of the Pacific and serves on the Board of Directors for both the Whole Planet Foundation and the Retail Industry Leaders Association. He also serves as chairman of the board for the Whole Kids Foundation. Lecture begins at 4:15PM in the Buckley Center Auditorium. Free, no RSVP required.

March 31, 2014 - Alumni Lecture: Chris Corrado '82
Chris Corrado ’82 is president and CEO of Environments, which he started with partners in 1987 under the name Corporate Environments. Currently the sole owner with 25 employees, Corrado’s company is partnered with the leading sustainable, modular furniture and architectural products manufacturers in the industry and has set the stage for continued aggressive growth. For three years in a row, Environments was named one of the "Top 100 Green Companies to Work for in Oregon". Corrado is an advisor to the dean of the Pamplin School of Business at the University of Portland. Buckley Center Auditorium, 7:10PM. Part of the Leadership Speaker Series. Free, no RSVP required.
March 31, 2014 - Alumni Reading: Lilah Hegnauer '04
An English major, former RA, and 2004 graduate of the University of Portland, Lilah Hegnauer is the author of two books of poetry, Pantry, winner of the 2013 New Southern Voices Poetry Prize, and Dark Under Kiganda Stars (2005), the manuscript of which served as her honors thesis at the University. She holds an M.F.A. from the University of Virginia, and teaches at James Madison University and University of Virginia. This year, she is the recipient of the Amy Clampitt Residency in Lenox, Massachusetts. Her work has been chosen for several poetry anthologies and has appeared in many prestigious literary magazines, including Beloit Poetry Journal, The Kenyon Review, FIELD, AGNI, Ploughshares, and Prairie Schooner. April 1, 2014 - State of UP & Alumni Awards Luncheon
Join us at the Multnomah Athletic Club for this can't-miss luncheon as UP President Rev. E. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., gives his final "State of UP" presentation, speaking about campus improvements, record applications and enrollment, achievements in athletics and academics, and other successes on The Bluff during his 10-year tenure as president. A highlight of the event will be the presentation of the 2014 Alumni Awards, honoring three superb alumni, and the Thomas A. Gerhardt '55 Memorial Award for Student Leadership. April 4, 2014 - First Avenue Career & Grad School Expo
Hosted at the Chiles Center on the campus of the University of Portland, the First Avenue Career & Grad School Expo is open to alumni from 2004 and later. Dozens of businesses and recruiters will be present and conducting interviews for full-time, entry-level positions, internships, and summer jobs. Graduate and professional schools also attend to publicize their programs. 11:00AM to 3:00PM at the Chiles Center. $10. Alumni must pre-register by April 3. April 5, 2014 - Christie Alumni Open House
Former residents of Christie Hall are invited to return home to join the current Christie Gentlemen for an afternoon of stories, food, and fellowship. The celebration begins with Mass in the Christie Chapel at 3:00PM, followed by social hour and a light dinner. At 5:00PM, the chips will hit the table in a Texas Hold-'Em tournament hosted by Fr. Pat Hannon, C.S.C. '82. Mass, social, and dinner are free for Christie Alumni and spouses/significant others. $5 buy-in for the poker tournament. Get your teammates together for a night of trivial fun! The game consists of multiple rounds of questions, each round featuring a different theme. We’ll throw in some UP trivia, video questions, worksheets, and even some math and science! Teams are welcome to bring snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. Teams are limited to 10 people. A dessert buffet is included with the entry fee, and a wine and beer cash bar will be available. April 9, 2014 - Alumni Lecture: Brigid Schulte '84
Please join us as we welcome University of Portland alumna Brigid Schulte ’84 back to The Bluff. She currently works as a reporter for the Washington Post and is the author of Overwhelmed – Work, Love and Play When No One Has Time. Overwhelmed is a map of the stresses that have ripped our leisure to shreds, and a look at how to put the pieces back together. Schulte spoke to neuroscientists, sociologists, and hundreds of working parents throughout the world to tease out the factors contributing to our collective sense of being overwhelmed, seeking insights, answers, and inspiration. Overwhelmed is the story of her journey. Reception begins at 6:30PM, lecture at 7:30PM in the Bauccio Commons Addition. Free.
April 12, 2014 - Salzburg 50th Anniversary Concert
The University Singers celebrate the 50th anniversary of UP’s Salzburg program with the sound of music from Austria. You’ll hear classics from Salzburg’s favorite son, Mozart, as well as music by Bruckner, folksongs, and a few Alpine surprises. Concert begins at 3:00PM in the Buckley Center Auditorium. April 26, 2014 - National Alumni Day of Service
Join fellow Pilots and their families and friends across the country to donate time and energy to various charitable causes. Each local alumni group organizes a different volunteer activity, from sorting food boxes, to serving a meal in a day-shelter, to sprucing up a yard and doing minor home repairs. May 22, 2014 - Networking 101: Making Career Connections
Despite the proliferation of online networking options, experts say the best way to make a connection is still a face-to-face meeting. Take advantage of this low stress social gathering that doubles as a networking opportunity. Staff from Career Services will share tips and strategies during this event, followed by a chance to socialize with other alumni and friends of UP. Free appetizers and a no-host bar will be provided. Remember trying to conjugate verbs in Latin class with your mind focused on football practice? Remember when The Bluff had more trees and fewer buildings? Remember the friendships you knew would last a lifetime? Please plan to share those memories and renew those friendships when you return to campus for the Columbia Prep All-class Reunion on Sunday, June 1, 2014.This year’s celebration commemorates all Columbia Prep alumni.
