Academic Technology Services: Tech Tools
Moodle
Moodle is an online learning management system (LMS) that students and faculty use to manage class correspondence, announcements, assignments, PowerPoint presentations, online quizzes, as well as online grading, course links, and discussion forums.
WebEx
WebEx is an online service currently utilized by UP for conference calls and shared group presentations. You may share your desktop, a video image, or applications from your computer, and allow other participants to do the same while retaining control of the proceedings. Podcasting
Podcasting involves recording a lecture or presentation for later review by an audience. The recording, after basic editing and clean up, is currently placed on iTunes U for later download. Please let ATS know well ahead of time if you wish to record a Podcast. We will help you with advanced preparation.
Videoconferencing
Videoconferencing is an electronic face-to-face meeting environment that can be across town, across the country, or around the world. This technology is clearing the way for efficient communication and collaborative decision making within and between organizations. Media Services can provide the tools that will make your next video conference a success.
Social Media
Social Media refers to the more collaborate, interactive and social use of the World Wide Web. Some refer to this as Web 2.0. Whichever way you want to describe it, this is what your students are using every day. This of technology includes Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and Digg among many others. Talk to us and we can help you learn how to use these tools in your classroom.
