Halloween

November is here, that means CHRISTMAS IS COMING! I’ll focus on Halloween though. Honestly, I never look forward to Halloween. My costume is always last minute, and every year I tell myself to plan better. This year was fun though! I was a ladybug and my roommate was a bumblebee, cute right? Just like Homecoming, our room was designated as the one to meet in to get ready. This meant a huge mess was about to appear, but it was worth it. We went downtown to a club for people 18 years old and over, and it was a lot of a fun to see everyone in their costumes. On the way home we bought a lot of snacks, and the girls decided to have a sleepover in our room. We stayed up forever eating and playing board games, which apparently I’m not too good at. It was an adventure on Friday when my roommate and I went to buy the materials for our costume. We even went to Washington, and I think it’s so fun that another state is so close to home. I’m so glad my roommate and I get along so well, but as I write this I’m currently sleep deprived because we get along so well that we don’t realize how late we stay up at night. She bought the new Backstreet Boys CD last week, and that is all we listen to now. And yes, they are back.

Halloween night

This week my bosses held a training session for everyone who works for the School of Nursing. I love working for them because they are all so patient when it comes to asking questions. It was hard at first to get the hang of things such as sorting mail and answering questions on the phone, but it keeps getting easier with every shift.

AND…I would just like to say that it’s sunny today and the sky is blue. No rain! The weather is still so nice here, and I’m happy. I keep finding glitter everywhere because of Halloween, but I think it adds a nice touch to the room. Not much else to report this week, other than I won’t have to starve on Tuesdays and Thursdays anymore. The way my schedule is set up leaves no time for lunch at the commons, but I found out I can use my commons meals at the Cove without paying extra. Score!

Why I Chose UP : The small class sizes appealed to me most. After my visit during senior year, I knew there was no other campus for me. Faculty already knew my name and knew me on a personal level, and UP was always in touch with me either through e-mail or phone calls before I was even a student. I knew that going here would help me grow as a person and accomplish great things, and so far it turns out I was right. Plus, it’s nice to get away from the Los Angeles heat.

Favorite Thing About UP : Without a doubt, the community! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful, whether it be the people in my hall, classes, or dinner table. Oh, and the kilt wearing drum squad at the soccer games. GO PILOTS!

Advice for Prospective Students : If you plan to live on campus, choose Shipstad! J If UP is far from home, I know what it’s like, but the staff makes the transition so easy that I promise you won’t feel alone! If you’re not sure what you want to major in, that is okay! I remember feeling so overwhelmed with choosing a college that choosing a major was just something else to worry about. There are people here to help you!
