Campus Ministry: Acolytes
Training Session for 2008-09 School Year will be Wednesday, September 3nd in the Chapel of Christ the Teacher at 9pm.
Acolytes serve as leaders of prayer among the worshiping assembly at Mass, both at Christ the Teacher Chapel and Hall Masses, as they assist the clergy. This ministry is a testimony to one’s Catholic Faith and is understood as a public witness of faith. Acolytes carry the processional cross, hold the Sacramentary for the presiding priests, set the altar and promote a harmony in the flow of the Mass. In the course of their ministry, most Acolytes discover a greater appreciation of the Lord’s presence in the Eucharist and a closer relationship with the Lord.
Training sessions for Acolytes take place at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. A student coordinator assists with the training and ongoing formation of Acolytes as well as finding substitutes in scheduling.
