Leaven: A pre-orientation immersion for incoming freshmen!

Annually, Campus Ministry brings incoming freshmen to campus for four days and three nights before the school year officially begins.  Freshmen who have been active in their church or high school faith communities are invited to join Campus Ministry staff, current student leaders, and other incoming freshmen to explore the Catholic character of UP.  Additionally, they will learn about the Holy Cross mission of the University and the numerous opportunities to grow in faith and leadership during the next four years.

The Leaven experience gives each freshman a preview of life at the University of Portland.  Students stay in residence halls, enjoy a variety of activities, explore downtown Portland, serve the needy through the hospitality center at St. Andre Bessette Church, engage in prayer, and discover all the ways they can grow closer to God while at UP.  Finally, those who participate will be empowered, if they so choose, to team up with the rest of the UP community to support, nourish and serve their classmates and the whole campus as members of the Body of Christ.

Mass Schedule
Masses will be held in the Blessed Basil Moreau Chapel in Christie Hall while
the Chapel of Christ the Teacher closure for renovations: May 6 through mid-June
Summer Schedule (NO 9pm Masses when classes are not in session)
Sunday 10:30am Masses and M-F weekday 12:05pm Masses
There are stairs (no elevator) from the hall entrance to the 1st floor where Blessed Basil Moreau Chapel is located.
