Campus Ministry: Pastoral Residents

Since the foundation of the University of Portland, Holy Cross religious have lived in residential halls and worked side by side with many qualified lay people. Presently and in the future, our common mission depends upon the collaborative efforts we make to model community life.

Members of the Congregation of Holy Cross share life in residence halls as a pastoral presence to the hall’s community and its individuals. Normally, pastoral residents are Holy Cross priests or brothers. With the Offices of Residence Life and Campus Ministry, they offer leadership for the self-reflection, celebrations and expressions of shared faith and community life. Living alongside students and staff is not only an important witness, but a privileged position for entrance into their lives and relationships. Pastoral residents, therefore, are a critical component to the residential experience and play a unique role in the personal development of our students and the Catholic character of our university.
