Father Gerry Olinger is originally from Springfield, Pennslvania and is the oldest of four children. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he was active in Campus Ministry and served as an RA in Morrissey Hall. After completing his undergraduate degree, Father Gerry earned a Juris Doctor from Notre Dame Law School. While in law school, he returned to Morrissey Hall as the Assistant Rector.
Father Gerry entered Moreau Seminary as a Candidate in the Fall of 2004. After a year of Philosophy and Theology studies, he entered the Holy Cross Novitiate in Cascade, CO. Father Gerry professed his first vows in Colorado and returned to Notre Dame to study Theology. While in Theology studies, Father Gerry worked in various ministries including campus retreats, the Women's Care Center, and the RCIA Program at St. Joseph Parish in South Bend, IN. He also served as the Assistant Rector of Old College, the Undergraduate Seminary for the Congregation of Holy Cross. Father Gerry graduated from Notre Dame with a Master of Divinity in May of 2009. He made his Final Vows in Holy Cross in August of 2009 and was ordained a priest in April of 2010. Father Gerry directs God Centered Community (GCC) in Campus Ministry, works as the Executive Assistant to the President, Associate Director for Campus Vocations and serves as the pastoral resident in Kenna Hall.
