Talk about how leadership fits into your University of Portland education:
I believe that my internship at Catholic Charities has only helped me develop these skills and I am ever grateful for it! During my internship I was able to really delve and get a deeper understanding of the type of relief and hope the organization offers through the various programs such as Pregnancy and Adoption, Refugee Resettlement, Housing and Transitions, and many more. While working in these programs I was also able to get a first hand look at the interworking of Administration and the many dynamics that can affect a big organization. In addition, I was fortunate enough to be mentored by the interim CEO Doug Alles where we had weekly discussions about the different aspects of working within a nonprofit religious organization. My time at Catholic Charities was such a blessing and I felt so lucky to be surrounded by people who were so passionate about their mission that it only aided in my passion of doing ministry work.
