Center for Entrepreneurship: Welcome
Dear Friends, Alumni, Current & Future Students,
Welcome to the University of Portland’s Center for Entrepreneurship – where we engage students from across the entire campus in entrepreneurship!
The CFE is a nexus of entrepreneurial activities and thinking, a place for students to learn and experience entrepreneurship and for employers to find creative, talented, knowledgeable, and passionate employees, with the skillset and mindset to create new ideas and innovations, make them happen.
It is my pleasure to assume leadership of the Center for Entrepreneurship, effective July 1, 2012. Following 15 successful years of our nationally recognized Entrepreneur Scholars program, a long history of leadership in entrepreneurship education, and practice in the local community, my aim is to expand outreach to a larger and more diverse group of UP students on campus, and to create even more engagement with the local entrepreneurship community in Portland and the Pacific Northwest. I inherit the great legacy of programs and curriculum developed by Dr. Robin Anderson and Dr. Jon Down, and am surrounded by a bright, dynamic and thought-leading group of colleagues and collaborators here at UP, both in and out of the Pamplin School of Business. It is also a great opportunity to partner with the business school to deliver and support the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management major, as well as the significantly expanded and updated EIM minor, allowing students to engage in entrepreneurship and innovation at various levels of engagement, depending upon their interests and intended career trajectory.
I am also honored to be working with various local, state and regional groups, as well as our partner education institutions in the State to create better and more robust entrepreneurial ecosystems, new models of financing and mentorship to catalyze new business enterprises here, and offer challenging and important career opportunities for our students in these organizations.
On behalf of UP’s entrepreneurship faculty and staff, I welcome you to learn more about what we are doing, and how you can help to make ideas happen for yourself, and our vibrant and growing region.
