The Univerity of Portland Pilots (23-0-2) followed up a fairy tale regular season with an outstanding showing in the NCAA Division I tournament. The Pilots dominated offensively and defensively, outscoring their opponents 19-3 while containing them to nearly one-third the number of shots on goal. Star striker Christine Sinclair shattered NCAA records by scoring 39 goals in a single season and 25 post-season goals in her career. Redshirt freshman phenomenon Megan Rapinoe came out big, scoring 6 of her 15 goals this season in the tournament and giving fans a taste of what the Pilots can look forward to in the future. Most impressively, the team ended the 2005 season undefeated - only the second team in NCAA soccer history after North Carolina to achieve such a feat.
