Level 1: Global Certificate Novice 

  • I can identify components of my culture that inform and influence my worldview, values, and beliefs.
  • I can identify components of other cultural perspectives and value other worldviews in comparison to my own.
  • I can demonstrate an introductory and preliminary understanding of the complexity of elements important to members of another culture in relation to its history, values, politics, communication styles, economy, or beliefs and practices.
  • I express curiosity about and openness to most interactions with other cultures.

Level 2: Global Certificate Intermediate

  • I recognize new ways of seeing components of my culture that inform and influence my worldview, values, and beliefs.
  • I recognize components of other cultural perspectives and worldviews and sometimes use them in interactions with others.
  • I can demonstrate adequate understanding of the complexity of elements important to members of another culture in relation to its history, values, communication styles, economy, or beliefs and practices.
  • I initiate and develop interactions with people from other cultures locally and abroad and can suspend judgment when evaluating my interactions with others who are culturally different from me.
  • I can sustain everyday interactions with people from a different culture in a second language.

Level 3: Global Certificate Advanced

  • I can articulate complex insights into components of my culture that inform and influence my worldview, values, and beliefs.
  • I can interpret intercultural experiences from more than one worldview and can recognize and support the feelings of another cultural group.
  • I can demonstrate sophisticated understanding of the complexity of elements important to members of another culture in relations to its history, values, politics, communication styles, economy, or beliefs and practices. 
  • I can initiate interactions with people from other cultures abroad and successfully negotiate shared understanding based on our differences.
  • I can sustain everyday and content-specific, e.g. academic or professional, interactions with people from a different culture in a second language.
