Listening Session: University of Portland Graduates in the Global Community
Where: Franz 111
-Faculty and Staff: Tuesday, March 17, 4:00-5:00 OR Wednesday, March 18 10:15-11:15.
-Students: Thursday March 19 7:00-8:00 (free pizza will be served!)
The CISGO Executive Committee invites you to attend a “listening session” to give your thoughts and input into potential global learning outcomes drafted by the CISGO subcommittee charged with developing such outcomes.
University of Portland graduates demonstrate Holy Cross values in their interactions in the global community. They demonstrate eagerness to contribute to the greater good and well-being of the human family, humility, curiosity, and flexibility in the face of difference, and a willingness to learn from others who are culturally different. They are able to tolerate ambiguity and unfamiliarity. University of Portland students accomplish the following learning outcomes in the demonstration of these qualities:
Graduates of the University of Portland are able to:
1. Demonstrate knowledge of their own and another culture in a global context.
-Identify significant factors in their own and another culture
-Describe global impacts and effects of these factors.
-Compare their own cultures to another in a global context.
2. Interact successfully and appropriately with people from different cultural backgrounds.
-Demonstrate an awareness of intercultural social conventions and mores.
-Demonstrate curiosity about a culture different from their own by asking or interviewing, and/or tthrough scholarly inquiry.
