Richard D. Gritta is a Professor of Finance at the University of Portland?s Pamplin School of Business. He earned his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame, his M.B.A from Indiana University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland. He teaches courses in financial management and investments. His research interests include air carrier Bankruptcy forecasting and risk/return in air transportation. He has published over 90 refereed articles in such journals are the Journal of the Transportation Research Forum, Transportation Journal, Logistics and Transportation Review, Financial Management, Handbook of Transport Strategy, Policy and Institutions, Journal of Transportation Law, Logistics and Policy, and others. He is currently Associate Editor-Air Transportation for the Journal of the Transportation Research Forum and acts as advisor to U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D.-Oregon: U.S. Senate Aviation Subcommittee) on airline matters. He was a Senior Fulbright Fellow to the Warsaw School of Economics, Poland in 1996 and is now the Fulbright Advisor for UP. He has appeared on national TV on the CBS Evening News, ABC Nightly News, ABC Nightline, CNN Headlines News, FOX News, and is a semi-regular on NPR. He has been quoted dozens of times in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, USA Today, U.S News and World Report, Time Magazine and in hundreds of interviews for newspapers across the country and around the world (Liberation-Paris, Les Echo-Paris, Il Sole-Milan, Financial Times-London, Suddeduestche Zeitsung-Munich, etc.).
