Background Narrative

Jeff Brown received his doctorate in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Washington and his undergraduate degree from Grinnell College. After graduate studies, Dr. Brown undertook post?doctoral training at Stanford University and subsequently taught a variety of biology courses at a liberal arts college in Maryland. Dr. Brown?s research seeks to understand the mechanisms and functions of cell?to?cell communication mediated by a family of signaling proteins known as ?Wnts,? particularly during embryonic development. Teaching interests include developmental, molecular and cellular, cancer, and general biology. Dr. Brown is a member of Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL F21), an organization dedicated to the improvement of education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. He is also a BEN Scholar (www.biosciednet.org) where he is involved in facilitating dissemination of biology teaching resources and serves as a reviewer of digital educational material for Society for Developmental Biology (LEADER: Library of Educational Annotated DEvelopmental biology Resources).
