Peter Rachor is Director for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Portland. He teaches in and directs UP’s nationally awarded Entrepreneur Scholars undergraduate program. He also teaches in the joint UP/OHSU Technology Entrepreneurship Commercialization graduate certificate program, as well as UP’s Master’s in Biomedical Engineering program. Previously, he was Director of Venture Development at the University of New Mexico, responsible for creation of eight start-up enterprises from technologies developed through various research programs there. Peter also worked with Los Alamos National Laboratory, assisting inventors, entrepreneurs and technology transfer staff in patent licensing, market assessment, and venture formation. Prior to becoming involved in education, research and economic development a decade ago, Peter co-founded three technology ventures, and also held senior positions with several international telecommunications firms. He has lived and worked on three continents. Peter holds a BA in Finance from Michigan State University and often serves as a mentor, coach or advisor to early stage and emerging companies, assisting entrepreneurs, students, and scientists.
