Facilities Planning & Construction: Wilson Clark Memorial Library Renovation
The renovation of the Wilson Clark Memorial Library began in May 2012. The design includes a dramatic change of the entrance at the main quad. There is the addition of a stair tower that goes from basement to roof. All volumes will be in the basement in compact shelving which will increase the amount of usable square footage. The University is aiming for LEED silver including the use of energy efficient lighting and mechanical. There will be added natural lighting throughout with skylights and other openings. A new elevator will be installed and the roof will be white to reflect heat. Reuse of recycled materials including 800 yards of crushed concrete from the River Campus buildings add to the sustainability of the remodel. When the Library is complete on July 15, 2013, two floors will open 24 hours a day.
