Facilities Planning & Construction: Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center
University of Portland broke ground in May 9, 2014 on the long-awaited facility. The Beauchamp Recreation and Wellness Center — funded entirely with donations from our generous friends and benefactors — will be located across Portsmouth Avenue facing the Chiles Center and Etzel Field. It will be bordered by Strong and Warren Streets and Van Houten Avenue.
To the right of the entry lobby and check-in desk is a 2,850 square foot strength and weight training area and to the left is a 730 square foot rock wall for climbing. Directly behind the check-in desk is a spacious 2,150 square foot training room and courtyard that looks out onto campus via a glass wall.
The main level also has three gyms. The total space available for the three courts is 23,090 square feet — and another 2,830 square feet for locker rooms. This level also has 1,480 square feet of administrative office space and a recreation and bike shop with 1,520 square feet available.
Overlooking the main floor will be treadmills and stationary bikes as part of the 3,670 square feet of cardio training space. There are also three wood floor studios with a total of 5,040 square feet available for spin and yoga classes. Click here: Remaining Construction Schedule.pdf
