Financial Aid: Cost and Need

This section of the site is designed to provide you with an overall understanding of the different components in the financial aid process that are used to determine your eligibility for aid. Please click on the links below for more information.

Cost of Attendance—This section includes information on the standard figures UP uses to determine your COA.

Expected Family Contribution—This section includes information on what the EFC is and how it is calculated.

Financial Need—This section includes information on how your need for financial aid is determined by the Office of Financial Aid.

UPCOMING DATES/DEADLINES

June 27 - Census date for graduate students attending summer classes.

July 1 - Priority deadline for completing loan application processes for Fall 2013 semester.

July 1 - Priority deadline for submitting additional information, verification materials and any other forms the Office of Financial Aid has requested for students attending Fall 2013 semester.

July 1 -Starting July 1, 2013, new borrowers may receive the interest subsidy for up to 150% of the published length of their program (6 years for most students at the University of Portland; varies by program and student type). See Subsidized Loan Limit Information Sheet for more details.

August 15 - Fall student employment jobs post on Student Job Board.
