The University of Portland accepts veteran’s benefits for which we are qualified. In order to process your benefits all that we need is a copy of your Certificate of Eligibility (COE). We don’t need a copy of your DD-214 or other documents, and we cannot accept them in lieu of the COE.
If you have 100% coverage under Chapter 33 (also called post-9/11 GI Bill), then you can apply for additional tuition coverage under the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Parents wishing to transfer Chapter 33 eligibility to their child can do so via VonApp on the GI Bill website. Once the transfer is confirmed, the student will then need to apply for the benefit which can also be done via VonApp. The VA will send the student a COE once the application is approved. As stated above, we need the student’s COE and cannot confirm enrollment to the VA based on the transfer of eligibility confirmation.
