Graduate School: Application Requirements

The application materials required for graduate school at the University of Portland vary by degree program. Here we will outline the standard application requirements for each of our 12 graduate programs.

Note: all international applicants are also required to submit an official TOEFL or IELTS score as well as proof of financial support in addition to the application requirements listed below.

Education

MED	Statement of Goals Current Resume Copy of Teaching License Two Letters of Recommendation (from a professional with supervisory experience OR an academic instructor) All Official Degree Granting Institutions Transcripts
MAT	PA-1 Form Levels of Authorization Form Statement of Goals Current Resume Two Letters of Recommendation (one letter must be from a professional with supervisory experience of candidate; one letter that attests to evidence of experience with children/youth) Official Transcript Documenting Degree ORELA Essential Academic Skills or CBEST or PRAXIS I or WEST-B; Elementary Education Subtest I and II; ORELA subject area tests (middle and/or high school licensure)

DNP	$50 Application Fee (non-refundable) DNP Writing Sample Current Resume Copy of Nursing License Three Letters of Recommendation Official Transcript Documenting Nursing Degree BSN to DNP applicants: Official GRE or Miller Analogies Test Scores Post-master's DNP applicants: Current nurse practitioner certification and/or history of nurse practitioner practice Priority application deadline is January 15th.
MS-CNL	$50 Application Fee (non-refundable) MS Nursing CNL Writing Sample Statement of Nursing Philosophy Current Resume Copy of Nursing License Two Letters of Recommendation Official Transcript Documenting Nursing Degree Official Transcripts from all Previously Attended Academic Institutions Official GRE or Miller Analogies Test Scores Priority application deadline is January 15th.

Our graduate programs operate on a rolling admission deadline and unless otherwise noted the application deadlines for each of our graduate programs are as follows:

Fall semester start: application deadline is July 15th
Spring semester start: application deadline is December 15th
Summer session start: application deadline is April 15th
