Health Center: Script to Learning Assistance Podcast
Learning Assistance does not provide tutoring services in specific subject areas. Students interested in working with a tutor are referred to specific departments. The Learning Resource Center located in Franz Hall room 120 houses Writing , Math, Foreign Language and Communications assistants.
Specific services offered by Learning Assistance include help with:
Time management
Study strategies
Reading
Note taking
Test anxiety
Test taking
Exam error analysis
Time management concerns could include falling behind with assignments and readings, staying up late to complete assignments, inability to begin assignments, and procrastination.
Study strategies include information on learning and remembering, Bloom’s taxonomy, concept maps, exam error analysis, reading and note taking. Students can take an assessment of their study strategies by taking the Learning and Study Strategies Inventory called the LASSI.
Faculty and staff often make referrals to Learning Assistance if students have difficulty on exams, turn homework in late, have difficulty organizing information, experience test anxiety, or any other issues related to learning and remembering.
