"The Honors Program is a great way to get involved on campus and to get outside of one's discipline. The Honors Program Colloquium at the beginning of freshmen year gets a new college student immersed in University-style thinking at the beginning of one's college career. Then, through honors courses and cross-disciplinary projects and presentations, one is able to become more of a public intellectual by learning about what students on different academic tracks have learned. All of this really rounds out a student’s education at the University of Portland and helps to move Honors Program students towards being well-rounded individuals upon graduation. The Honors Program gives students a chance to pull together everything that they have learned in class and really apply it to everyday life."
