Sophomores, juniors, and seniors are eligible to apply. Click here for more information, including the 2013-2014 application.Green House
Located in Tyson Hall and devoted to sustainability education and action. The "Green House" is a place for students to foster and celebrate their common interest in learning to live and work in a sustainable way. It provides space and incentives for students to use theoretical and practical knowledge (such as ecology, economics, politics) in the pursuit of sustainability in personal lifestyles and campus education and action. Click here to access the 2013-2014 application.
The 2009-2010 Green House partnered with students from the S.L.U.G. organic garden club to establish the Village Composting Program. This program provides each unit in Haggerty & Tyson with a 5.5 quart kitchen composting bucket to dispose of organic waste for use at the nearby Student-Led Unity Garden. Compost is collected twice weekly during the school year. Click here for more information about the composting program.
Living in the theme house furthers the goal of decreasing the University of Portland’s environmental footprint and helps develop skills that we all need in the 21st century.
