Residence Life: Welcome to Residence Life
Living on campus, in one of our residence halls, connects you to the vibrant life of the University. The close-knit, supportive residence hall community offers students a place to live and work that distinctly enhances their college experience by putting them at the center of everything: classes and labs, the library, recreational facilities, campus ministry, volunteer service opportunities and more. Studies have found that students living on campus perform better academically. Professors and mentors are only a stone’s throw away if you have questions or need assistance, and you have easier access to the resources you need to make your years on The Bluff successful ones.
You also are closer to the events – plays, movies, sporting events, speakers and concerts – that link your daily life more intimately to the on campus community. You’ll live in close proximity to friends, peers and colleagues who are all having similar experiences, and together, you’ll create a campus community that is youthful, energetic, and full of life.
The Office of Residence Life coordinates housing for over 1,900 members of the UP student, staff and faculty community in traditional residence halls, two apartment style halls for upper-class students, and over 40 university owned off-campus houses. In addition, residence life, located in 101 Buckley Center, coordinates online and on paper listings for roommates needed and apartments/houses for rent in the area are available.
Our policies and procedures can be found in Life on the Bluff - Student Handbook; all on campus residents should familiarize themselves with the information included in this important online document. Click here for important 2012-2013 Residence Life dates.
Mission
The Office of Residence Life is committed to creating supportive Christian living and learning environments where an education of the heart and hands is as important as the education of the head. We are committed to formation of Christian community in the spirit of the Congregation of Holy Cross. We are also committed to the formation of individuals through caring relationships and interactions between staff, faculty, and students. Our students are called by this mission to involve themselves in faith, service, and leadership experiences for a continued education of the mind, heart, and hands.
