Archives and Museum
These two adjunct collections are located in the basement of Shipstad Hall. The archives house collections of historical documents, publications, and photographs relating to the history of the University. The archives are open to researchers Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. The University archivist may be reached by telephone at (503) 943-7116.
The museum houses a display of photos and objects connected with the history and development of the University. The museum is open to visitors and researchers Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The museum director may be reached by telephone at (503) 943-7198).

Arts and CultureThe University of Portland is a vital academic, intellectual, artistic, and cultural center with concerts, plays, symposiums, speakers, films, and athletic events happening nearly every night of the week. BookstoreThe campus bookstore is located in the Pilot House and is operated by Barnes and Noble College Bookstores. The campus bookstore provides: new and used textbooks, national campus bestsellers and popular paperbacks, titles by campus authors, special book orders, office and school supplies, apparel and gifts and greeting cards, candy and convenience items, and UP logo merchandise. The bookstore also hosts book signing events throughout the year.
Employees of the University receive a 20% discount on purchases from the bookstore.

Check Cashing ServiceAn Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is located in the Pilot House lobby and provides extended hours of access while the building is open. Employees are encouraged to use this automated banking system.
The cashier's office will cash checks for employees of the University within these parameters:
- Checks cannot exceed $75.00
- No second-party check will be accepted
- Identification is required (Employee ID or a driver's license is sufficient)
- There will a $50.00 charge for any check returned by the bank for any reason. An employee will lose his or her check-cashing privilege for 180 days if two returned checks are received from the bank.
The cashier's office is located in Suite 130 Waldschmidt Hall and is open from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except on University holidays.
Campus MinistryCampus ministry provides the University community a variety of ways to experience the integration of faith and learning. Campus ministry also prepares people to receive the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Communion, and Marriage. Campus ministry also maintains a current list of local places of worship for people of all Christian denominations and other faith traditions.

Technology Support Center
The information services Technology Support Center is the main point of contact for requesting technology services and support. Located in BC 12, the TSC is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Audiovisual equipment and services are available through media services located in BC 12 near the TSC. Semester-long, standing orders should be made a week before the semester begins. One-time orders should be made at least 48 hours in advance. All requests are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Students requiring use of audiovisual equipment require a release form completed and signed by the sponsoring faculty.
Information services provides a variety of ongoing training and support opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and the University community to enable them to use technology more creatively and effectively. If you would like to request a class, training session, or if you would like to receive more information on how to implement technology in your work, please contact or visit the TSC.
There are 20 full-featured kiosk PCs that provide "quick stop" access to email and the Internet. They are located in the Pilot House, St. Mary's Lounge, Buckley Center, and Franz Hall. Additionally, each residence hall has a cluster of PCs available for use by residents and staff.
Wireless networking is available in three locations on campus. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the University community are encouraged to take advantage of wireless networking in St. Mary's lounge, the Pilot House, and in the Library using 802.11b and 802.11g wireless devices such as laptops, notebooks, tablets, PDAs, handhelds, Palms, PocketPCs, Blackberries, and cell phones.
PilotsUP is the campus portal: a one-stop online source for access to email, Banner, the events calendar, etc.
Information services invested $150,000 in a new secure, standards-based messaging and collaboration system known as Microsoft Exchange. The new system provides timely, seamless, and integrated access to information through Microsoft Outlook (PC), Microsoft Entourage (Mac), Outlook Web Access (OWA), and Outlook Mobile Access (OMA).
Faculty and staff are authorized a maximum of 200MB of storage on the messaging and collaboration system. Standardizing the file storage associated with these accounts provides a reasonable balance between the need for storage, the integrity of the entire messaging and collaboration system, and the cost associated with maintaining the system. OWA is available from within the PilotsUP. Employees can also access OWA directly through webmail.
Information services actively defines and communicates an integrated strategy for the development, maintenance, and use of the Web as a strategic tool for the University.
In addition to content management support and training, space on supported web servers and access to specialized applications, information services provides specialized software and training to over 100 "Super Users" who manage campus group websites ranging from the colleges and schools to student groups and media organizations.
Information services provides telephone service, including voice mail, to faculty and staff and local dial tone to students in the residence halls. Please contact the TSC to reset voice mail or request telephone service. Voice teleconferencing equipment can be reserved from the TSC on a limited basis. Video teleconferencing requires special equipment and circuit activations that must be funded by the college and schools.
LibrarySince 1958, the Clark Library, named for the lumberman and civic leader whose family generously supports the University, has played a central role in campus life as a dynamic teaching and learning library. In addition to its primary teaching mission, the library combines the latest information technology with traditional resources to serve students, faculty, and staff seeking information and pursuing knowledge.

Mailing ServicesMailing services is located on the first floor of Buckley Center and is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m. Services include sorting and delivering mail to all campus locations, providing postage and mailing services for outgoing mail in the U.S. and internationally for the University's faculty, staff, students, and departments, operating a full-service window that sells stamps and envelopes, and providing most USPS and UPS services, including mailing envelopes and boxes free of charge. Outgoing mail leaves mailing services at 3:00 p.m. sharp.

Office of Public SafetyThe Office of Public Safety serves all students, employees, and guests of the University. The office operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. All criminal offenses occurring on campus, or at University-controlled property, should immediately be reported to this office. Suspicious persons, accidents, safety hazards, on-the-job injuries, personal injuries, chemical spills, and fire safety incidents should also be reported to this office.

Recreation and Fitness FacilitiesRecreational services offers team sports and individual recreational opportunities. The Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center contains tennis courts for use and the outdoor program offers day and overnight hikes, cycling, river rafting, and equipment check-out including bicycles and camping gear.
The Howard hall gym, exercise room, and pool, as well as the Tennis Center, may be used by employees any time these facilities are open for general use. There is no fee for staff members. Spouses of staff can purchase a pass in Howard Hall.
