New Employee Account Creation
New employees to the University of Portland will have a UP account created for them which grants access to University wireless networks, campus computers, the PilotsUP portal, Go.up.edu authentication and various other systems. These accounts are created by Information Services personnel as a result of a request provided by Human Resources towards the end of the hiring process. These account creation requests are initiated by a hiring manager of the administrative support for the hiring department using the HireTouch applicant tracking system.
In addition to network access, the HireTouch request can include access to:
- Banner access
- Argos Access
- Nolij Access
- Phone extension and phone equipment
Once a new employee's accounts are created, the IS University Help Desk can provide assistance in resetting initial account passwords, accessing technology resources, and setting up email and wireless network access on different devices. Feel free to contact the IS University Help Desk to schedule an appointment for this purpose.
New Employee Computer Requisition
If a new employee is filling a position that is new to a department at the University, they may receive new computer equipment. If a new employee is filling a position that has already existed, they will typically inherit the computer equipment of their predecessor.
Requests for computer equipment for new employees should be directed to the IS University Help Desk via an email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Information Services can provide one of a few standard computer configurations as appropriate, including Macintosh computers, Windows PC computers, or virtual desktop clients. Any requests for extra hardware or software outside of a standard configuration is typically paid for by the employee's department, such as second monitors or special keyboards and mice. These extra purchases can be ordered through Information Services as well. The IS University Help Desk can schedule consultation appointments with a computer technician in order to assess and make recommendations regarding an employee's technology needs.
