Speech Resource Center: FAQs
Can I drop off a copy of my speech to be corrected?
No. Speech assistants will help you and make suggestions for improvement, but they will not do the work for you.
I do not even understand the assignment. What should I do?
Students are encouraged to come at any stage of the speech process. Speech assistants can help with everything from brainstorming about the assignment with you, to providing better organizational or delivery strategies on a polished speech.
I have one question about speech outlines and my delivery. Should I sign up for a conference?
Yes! Speech assistants are here to help you. Whether your question seems simple or complex, you are welcome to visit the Learning Center for guidance.
I am a good speaker. Why should I go to the Center?
Even experienced speakers can benefit from helpful input from trained speaking assistants. Often, the more you practice your speech, the more comfortable you will become in the actual process.
What should I do if I cannot schedule a conference with the speech assistant for the discipline of the assignment?
First, try e-mailing the speech assistant. Special conference times may be arranged. If a conference time cannot be arranged, you may be able to work with a different speech assistant.
