Integrated Writing Program: FAQs
No. For small, simple questions of grammar or style e-mail the Editing Hotline (writing@up.edu). Write "Editing Hotline" in the subject line. Allow 24 hours during the school week for a response.
Even experienced writers can benefit from input from trained peer readers, especially those in the field.
Professors like to read papers with clear, organized ideas. Also, some students may need assistance understanding particular grammar concerns.
First, try e-mailing the Writing Assistant. Special conference times may be arranged. If not, you may be able to work with other WAs. Check with your professor.
Students are encouraged to come at any stage of the writing process. WAs can help with everything from clarifying the assignment to providing better editing strategies on a final draft.
No. Writing Assistants will help you and make suggestions for improvement, but they will not do the work for you.
