Mailing Services: Frequently Asked Questions
Do both addresses need to be included on a campus mail envelope?
Campus mail must have either a first and last name or department name in the “To” and “From” fields and must include the Mail Stop Code of the recipient. When reusing an intra-campus envelope, be sure to completely cross out the previous address on the envelope.
What are some ways I can save money when I send mail?
-
Screen your mailing list for unnecessary names, duplicates, and incomplete addresses.
-
Do not over-insure. USPS and UPS will pay only the actual value of the item, not the declared value.
-
Use postcards for short messages or announcements.
-
Combine mailings when possible into a larger envelope for distribution at its destination.
-
Use business reply envelopes provided by vendors, instead of department envelopes.
-
Use a fax machine or email when time is crucial, instead of using costly express or overnight mail.
