Manny Duenas, a global business major, awarded Fulbright to study in Germany
Manny Duenas, a senior global business major at the University of Portland, has earned a prestigious Fulbright scholarship to study in Germany next year.
Duenas, of Barrigada, Guam, was one of approximately 1,000 people nationwide to be awarded a full Fulbright grant for a year’s study abroad.
The United States Fulbright program began in 1946 after World War II. Its mission is to “assist in the development of friendly, sympathetic and peaceful relations between the United States and other counties of the world” through the exchange of students, scholars and professionals. The program operates in over 140 countries worldwide.
Duenas won with his proposal to enroll in graduate level courses in international management, researching the impact of entrepreneurship on the German economy and acting as a liaison between U.S. businesses in Germany and the university to which he will be assigned.
Previous Fulbright scholars from the University of Portland include Jennifer Cournia in 2001.
