Trudie Booth

Trudie Booth
Professor of French

For 27 years the best-dressed and most startlingly cheerful professor on campus has certainly been the energetic and eloquent Miss Trudie Booth, Lecturer in French, the language to which she has devoted a career (and recently three books, on French phonetics, prepositions, verbs, and idioms). Pretty much every student who ever had Madame Booth for French walked away from class awed by her teaching skill and charm. We asked her recently for her thoughts about teaching. “Oh, my teaching is a true passion,” she said, nearly singing. “The key to understanding other peoples and cultures is language, of course, and I have tried with all my might to instill the love of learning languages in my students. But, it is their enthusiasm which inspires me, you know? And there is something so special and energetic about our community here that, yes, it gives me wings.” To which we can only say merci and amen.
