Tu Tutor
For the past eight years University students have graced the Baltazar Ortiz Community Center, in the Killings-worth neighborhood near campus, thrice weekly as tutors, teachers, ad-visors, friends, and quasi aunts and uncles to the Centers elementary and middle-school students. Primary concerns for the young students? Computer skills, games, and, most of all, help with homework the pressing concern of every schoolchild on this wild planet. The deft Oregon photo-grapher Steve Hambuchen recently trailed along with students from The Bluff and caught these entertaining moments. The Office of Volunteer Services offers more than three dozen volunteer opportunities every year, including the tutoring program at the Ortiz Community Center. Make a gift in support of volunteer services to support outreach into the local community and beyond and give students immeasurable personal and real-world experiences with a variety of needy populations.
