The famous Huge Hand at the Children’s Healing Art Project (CHAP) Art Factory in Portland (1030 NW Marshall Street). It’s a table about six feet tall adorned with stuff from the collective junk drawers of the hundreds of children CHAP serves. CHAP “brings the healing power of art to children in crisis by creating art experiences where each child can be seen for their artistic talents rather than for their disease, diagnosis, or disability,” says founder and director Frank Etxaniz. See www.chap.name.

Features:

Profiles of Bell Tower donors Allen and Kathie Lund and engineering graduate Ed Sweo; scholarship donors and recipients; the memories of Auschwitz survivor Alice Lok Cahana; and the brilliance at the core of Catholicism.
