University of Portland’s University Singers to tour Puget Sound region January 9-13

The choir will sing a program of sacred and secular works from the Renaissance to today, including a setting of the Magnificat by Peter Chamberlain, a member of the choir and a junior engineering major.
The choir will also be performing private concerts at Olympia High School, John Paul II High School (Lacey), Panorama (a retirement community in Lacey), Shelton High School, Gig Harbor High School and Bishop Blanchet High School (Seattle).
The director of the University Singers is Michael Connolly, D.M.A., professor of music at the University since 1988. Connolly is director of the University’s music program and former chair of the department of performing and fine arts. He has served as national chair of the National Association of Pastoral Musicians, the Catholic liturgical music organization.
