Tickets for the April 23rd concert on campus are free to University of Portland employees and students with valid ID at the door.
The concert will feature the combined groups performing Morten Lauridsen's dramatic "Lux Aeterna,” as well as the University of Portland Orchestra performing Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 5.
“The struggle from darkness to light represents so much of the human condition,” said David De Lyser, music director and conductor. “Our hope in this concert is to take the audience on some of those journeys.”
The Choral Arts Ensemble will open the concert with works by Randall Thompson and Pete Seeger, among others, exploring darkness to light in terms of oppression, justice and salvation.
