University of Portland to host chamber ensemble concert, 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27

University of Portland’s small instrumental ensembles will perform Tuesday, Nov. 27 on campus, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. The concert, set for Mago Hunt Recital Hall at 6 p.m., is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature performances by the University’s chamber ensembles, providing an opportunity for students to explore repertoire in a collaborative and highly musical manner. Ensembles that will perform include the Flute Ensemble, String Quartet, and UP Jazz Combo. A highlight of the evening will be the String Quartet’s performance of Giuseppe Verdi’s String Quartet in E minor, a piece that is a remarkable confluence of traditional compositional techniques and Romantic-era Italian styles.
