Fireworks display, “Bite on the Bluff” featuring local food carts on tap for Friday, August 23 women’s soccer game

The two-time national champion University of Portland Pilots women’s soccer team, ranked No. 22 in preseason polls, is hosting No. 14 nationally-ranked Marquette at historic Merlo Field at 7 p.m. on Friday, August 23. A post-game fireworks display is scheduled, and will begin five minutes after the conclusion of the match (approximately 9 p.m.) and will be about 10 minutes in duration.

Prior to kick-off, several local vendors will set up food carts in the Chiles Center Plaza in the annual “Bite on The Bluff.” Food service will begin at 5 p.m. Bite on The Bluff is open to the public, and neighbors are welcome to come onto campus and watch the fireworks display. The Bite on The Bluff will include several local vendors, including Voodoo Doughnut, Koi Fusion, Thai Cottage, Thrive, Louie’s Pizza, Philly’s Best, Tamale, Boy, Bon Apetit’s Dub Box, and more.

The game marks the first match of the 2013 season in which students will be on campus – Orientation for new freshmen is set to begin on Thursday, August 22.
