University of Portland Wind Symphony and Orchestra to perform free concert on Saturday, Oct. 5

The University of Portland Wind Symphony and Orchestra will perform in concert on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m., in Buckley Center Auditorium on the University campus at 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. The concert is free and open to the public.

In an all-Russian program, the Orchestra will feature student concerto competition winner Cem Inan playing Rachmaninoff Concerto no. 1, as well as selections from Stravinsky’s Firebird, and Lyadov’s 8 Russian Songs. The Wind Symphony program includes Joaquin Turina’s charming La Procession du Rocio and premiere performances of pieces by Anthony O’Toole and Benjamin Taylor, with undergraduate conducting associates Kylie Pybus, Kristin Wishon, and Brian Carter conducting .
