Professor Michael Cameron to speak as part of Theology Thursday lecture series on Thursday, Nov. 7

University of Portland theology professor Michael Cameron will present “A Beginner’s Tour of Saint Augustine’s Confessions” as part of the Theology Thursday lecture series on Thursday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 301 of Shiley Hall on the University campus, 5000 N. Willamette Blvd. The talk is free and open to the public.

Cameron will present his take on the 13 books of Confessions in order to see inside the mind of this legendary figure of ancient Christianity. In these works, Saint Augustine wrote as though talking to God in order to meditate on divine grace while striving for greater self-understanding and inner peace. During the lecture, Cameron will explore the work’s sharp historical insights, keen human observation, consummate literary artistry, and unforgettable spiritual intensity.
