Prayers for Peace (Annually on Veterans' Day)
In the US, November is traditionally the month of remembrance. We take time to remember all of our family members who have passed away, including those who gave their life during war. This happens each year on Veteran's Day, which is November 11. If you want to learn more about Veteran's Day, check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veterans_Day.
This Veteran’s Day, on Tuesday, November 11th at 2:00pm calls for world peace will be given in the International Peace Garden located outside Buckley Center Auditorium. We are looking for international students to give a short reading, personal message or prayer or in their own language and/or religion that calls for world peace. This will be the seventh year of international student involvement. The inclusion of many languages and beliefs calling for peace is so beautiful and powerful we would like to do it again.

For ideas on peace prayers visit this website: http://peaceprayer.gn.apc.org/. We are also open to phrases, poems or statements that bring you peace. You could also write a short message about what peace means to you and/or your country. Readings should be brief, no longer than 1 minute or about a paragraph or less to allow time for everyone to share.
If you are interested in offering a call for world peace, please email or call the ISS Office by Wednesday, November 7th (503-943-7367 or firstname.lastname@example.org). We would like to start putting together a program of who will be speaking.
Questions and concerns can be directed to the ISS office.
