Prayers for Peace

The Garaventa Center and International Student Services at University of Portland is holding their annual International Prayers for Peace on November 11, 2015 at 2:00pm. The gathering will take place at the International Peace Garden, located in front of Buckley Center Auditorium at University of Portland.

This is a time for people from all faith and cultural backgrounds to share a prayer, statement, or message in their native tongue and/or tradition. The gathering of diverse groups of people on this day has been a very memorable experience for students and the broader community at University of Portland.

This year, we are looking to involve the larger UP community. If you are a native speaker of a language other than English and would like to offer a prayer/message to the community, please email by November 4, 2015 so that we can create a program of speakers.

For ideas on peace prayers visit this website:  We are also open to phrases, poems or statements that bring you peace. You could also write a short message about what peace means to you and/or your country. Readings should be brief, no longer than 1 minute or about a paragraph or less to allow time for everyone to share.

Questions and concerns can be directed to the ISS office.

Thank you,
International Student Services & the Garaventa Center
