Presidential search forums to be held January 14-15

Faculty and staff forums with the two presidential finalists will take place on campus on January 14 and 15.

The Presidential Search Committee recently announced Rev. James M. Lies, C.S.C., vice president for mission at Stonehill College in Easton, Mas., and Rev. Mark L. Poorman, C.S.C., executive vice president of the University of Portland, as the two finalists.

“A crucial part of that process is feedback from faculty and staff who have had the opportunity to meet with the candidates and ask questions about their candidacy,” said Thomas D. Arndorfer a University regent and chair of the Presidential Search Committee that consists of 14 members of the UP community. “To that end, I would like to invite all faculty and staff to attend these forums.”

Feedback forms will be available at the conclusion of the forums for faculty and staff to provide feedback to the Presidential Search Committee, who will provide a report and recommendation to the Board of Regents.

The Board of Regents will vote to elect the next president of the University of Portland on Saturday, January 25.

University president Rev. E. William Beauchamp, C.S.C., announced in September that he is stepping down as president at the end of the 2013-14 academic year. Beauchamp was appointed the University’s 19th president in November, 2003.
