Studies Abroad
Curriculum:
Students must complete Spanish 301 & 302 before the program is scheduled to begin. Students will take two upper-division Spanish classes for six credits total, each taught in Spanish:
- Spanish 306 - Advanced Spanish Grammar (Professor from Spain, 3 credits)
- Spanish 491 – Spain’s Civil War in Literature and Film (Dr. Lora Looney, 3 credits)
The Experience:
Students will have the opportunity to enhance Spanish skills in the classroom and with a homestay family. Students will also explore Madrid's major art museums and government offices, Valle de los Caídos and El Escorial, Civil War sites, and other sites in and near Segovia. All instruction is in Spanish and all program activities are done in Spanish.
Living Quarters:
Students will live with a Spanish family to become fully immersed in the Spanish culture. Homestays provide students with the opportunity to use their Spanish language skills and apply them to a home setting.
Date and Cost:
This program begins Wednesday, May 15, 2013. Students must depart by 10 am on Thursday, June 20, 2013. The cost of the Segovia summer program is $4,800. The cost includes tuition for six credit hours, housing and meals, excursions, and insurance. The cost does not include airfare.
