Studies Abroad: Programs
The University of Portland provides many opportunities to spend a summer, semester or year in another part of the world. All credits count as if they were taken at the home campus. If students would like to have an experience of a lifetime and immerse themselves in a different culture, this is the way to do it.
Students can read more about the choices available to them based on the program-length that they are interested in. Each program page includes in-depth information about the program location, academics, requirements, accommodations, itinerary, and a packing list with weather information.
Each program offers a unique educational and cultural experience to its participants. Whether students are interested in language, history, culture, or all of the above, there are programs to expand their knowledge. Summer programs provide excellent opportunities for students whose majors have specific required classes during the year that are only available on the University of Portland campus. Many summer programs offer core classes that all students need, several of them taught by University of Portland faculty and integrated into the program location and excursion sites.
Semester programs enable students to study in association with other prestigious institutions, including the University of Notre Dame Australia, and the universities that form ILACA (Independent Liberal Arts Colleges Abroad). The full year Salzburg program allows students to build their German skills while learning about European art and culture. Students also have the option of studying abroad through IES Abroad (Institute for the International Education of students), providing them with a variety of exciting options.
