Studies Abroad: London Semester Programs

Curriculum:

Each semester students choose four courses (each worth four credit hours) for a total of 16 credit hours. All courses are upper-division and will be taught by British faculty. Course content varies, but British art, literature, theatre, sociology, and history are always included. Classes are held in the Bloomsbury district in the heart of London. The center is close to the British Museum, as well as other museums, monuments, galleries, and theaters. 
Prerequisite: ENG 112 (ENG 225 is also recommended for English majors and minors.)

Cost:

The cost of the program is $24,795 which includes 16 credit hours of tuition, housing, daily breakfast and five evening meals a week, excursions, admissions, London tube pass, and insurance. Institutional financial aid does transfer, except for work study. The cost of the program does not include airfare.

Program Dates:

Fall semester will begin in September 2013 and conclude in December 2013 with Fall Break in late October. The spring semester will begin in February 2014 and will end in May 2014 with Spring Break in late March.  Exact dates will be announced in October 2012.

The Experience:

This semester-long program will allow students to have a first-hand look at British culture. The program includes overnight excursions to Wales and Stratford, as well as multiple day trips. Theatrical performances also allow students to take advantage of the richest variety of theater in the world. This program works best for students who would enjoy studying literature, drama, and art history in a cosmopolitan urban setting.

Living Quarters:

Students will live with a British family in suburban London, allowing full immersion into the culture. Students commute by train to downtown London.
