Web & Administrative Systems: Copyright Information
With the arrival of the UP iTunes U and multimedia hosting services, the issue of copyright and intellectual property is one that people will need to make themselves aware of as they utilize these services. Copyright protection extends to all manner of creative works, and must be given consideration when deciding whether or not to distribute a video, audio recording, or other multimedia file through one of our services.
In utilizing these services, University of Portland students, staff, and faculty agree to only distribute multimedia content that they have created themselves, content that falls within the public domain, content that is a limited 'Fair Use' sample, or content for which they have explicit copyright holder permission or licensing to distribute.
If you plan to capture an audio or video recording of a guest speaker or performer, and intend to distribute that recording through one of our services, please obtain a signed release form granting permission.
