PilotsUP Portal
Access https://pilots.up.edu to use: email; online courses in Moodle; remote file access via FileUP; Banner self-service; library resources; announcements; campus events calendar and scheduling; secure University directory; and University resources. Join online communities to collaborate and communicate or create personal private and public web pages to blog, connect to Google and Facebook gadgets, and manage the web resources you use at UP. WebMail
Accessed via the PilotsUP portal. Students access email through Gmail and faculty and staff utilize Outlook Web Access.
Online Learning
Accessed via the PilotsUP portal. Information services, through academic technology services, supports a full-featured online learning/course management system using Moodle (http://moodle.org). Moodle is designed around the pedagogical principles of constructivism, constructionism, social constructionism, and connected and separate (for more, see Moodle's philosophy). Off-campus File Access
Accessed via the PilotsUP portal. FileUP provides online access to all files and documents stored in your University U:\ or P:\ drives as well as any web folders you manage using the Campus Web.
Department Web Sites
Accessed within www.up.edu. Department web sites are managed by an assigned department ‘superuser’ using the University’s content management system called Sherpa. If you would like to post or correct information, please contact your department’s superuser.
Online Directory Information
The University’s public online directory (www.up.edu/dir) contains faculty and staff contact information. Each person has a personal profile page that includes a photo, basic contact information, office hours, and an abbreviated vitae. The directory inside PilotsUP also contains student information. Directory information comes from information in Banner. If you would like to add or correct information, please contact your department’s Banner administrator, the Office of the Provost, or human resources.
Personal/Professional Web Pages
Faculty professional web pages can be created using the publishing tools in PilotsUP or manually via HTML in faculty.up.edu. If you would like to create and maintain professional web page(s), we can assist you with either option. Please contact the Office of Web & Administrative Systems for more information or browse details under PilotsUP - Creating Communities or Campus Web.
Using the Web for Active Technology Teaching
A domain and webserver support is provided for faculty to incorporate web technology into their curriculum. If you require the use of a web server for your teaching (students building web pages or applications, etc.), we offer this support under teaching.up.edu. Please contact the Office of Web & Administrative Systems to secure a web folder. For more information, please see Campus Web.
